VICTORIA ISD CELEBRATES NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK

VISD is proud to announce its participation in National School Bus Safety Week, which takes place from October 16th to October 23, 2023. This week serves as an opportunity for communities nationwide to come together and recognize the paramount importance of school bus safety.

While school buses are widely acknowledged as one of the safest modes of transportation for students, the illegal passing of school buses remains a critical safety concern for our children. It is during the moments when students are loading or unloading from a school bus, not while riding in it, that the most significant safety risk occurs.

VISD is thrilled to announce the return of the highly anticipated Finding Your “AND” CHOICE Expo.

The Finding Your “AND” CHOICE Expo, now in its third year, has grown to become a cornerstone event in the VISD calendar. It provides an invaluable opportunity for students and their families to learn about the various educational choices and opportunities that will shape their academic journey and future careers. Whether students aspire to pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or serve their country, the Expo offers a comprehensive overview of the pathways available within the district.

125 YEARS OF VISD | TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

In the early days of the school district, the value of public school transportation was immeasurable. It has come to play a pivotal role in ensuring that every child has access to education, regardless of their distance from school. Students, when VISD originated, would either walk, ride a bicycle, or even mount their trusted steeds for the journey to school. However, the introduction of public school transportation has truly transformed the education landscape.

Today, the VISD Transportation Department has 38 bus routes in operation every morning and afternoon.
